A fight between two juveniles near the LBI Book Swap on Monday night broke a store window and damaged several books, police said.

BEACH HAVEN, NJ — A fight between two juveniles near the LBI Book Swap on Monday night broke a store window and damaged several books, police said.
The two juveniles were involved in a fight at the Schooner’s Wharf shopping complex around 10 p.m., according to Beach Haven Police Captain Tom Medel. After the fight ended, one of the juveniles hit a window of the LBI Book Swap.
The juvenile wounded his hand and was taken to Southern Ocean Medical Center for treatment. Medel said the juvenile will pay restitution for property damage.

The LBI Book Swap announced that several books were also destroyed from the window shattering.
“11PM last night we get a call that kids were out fighting and more windows were broken. Glass and blood was everywhere. We threw away multiple ruined books,” the LBI Book Swap wrote on Facebook.

No other businesses reported any structure damage that night, Medel said.
Beach Haven police have increased patrols around Schooner’s Wharf since the incident on Monday.
“That night happened to be a perfect storm of us not having enough officers out because we had officers in training that day that would have normally been on the road. It was also the day for our semi-annual firearms qualifications,” Medel said.
He expects about four to six officers will be patrolling Schooner’s Wharf at night.
“It’s an attractive place for the kids all to hang out, but we also have the bayfront there and the parking lot, so we'll keep officers patrolling that area,” Medel said.
