Yes Virginia, There is A Santa Claus And He Lives In Barnegat
Santa has been perfecting his craft in Barnegat for the last 22 years.
BARNEGAT, NJ - If the passage of years has dimmed your belief in Santa Claus, take heart. He lives in Barnegat.
For many years, an anonymous township man has been playing the part of his hero - Santa Claus.
This year will be no exception.

"It's my 22nd year as the Barnegat Santa," he said in an interview with Patch. "It's the best job I ever had, to witness the excitement in children of all ages."
He and his wife Mrs. Claus, who shall also remain unnamed, have been working as a team since the beginning.

"I couldn't do it without her," he said.
Their grueling schedule begins around Halloween and continues until the end of the Christmas season.
He rides the fire trucks with local fire companies, and visits various sections of the township. They visit local schools. The Community Center. Argos Farm in Lacey Township. Their famous appearances at the Cox House for several weekends in December.
"It's part of the tradition of Barnegat," he said.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be cruising by the Cox House from 6 p.m. to 8 pm. on Saturday, Dec. 2. The historical house will be decorated for the holidays. Free tours will be provided and light refreshments will be provided.
And Santa Sundays at the historic house at Route 9 and West Bay Avenue will return this year. You can visit Santa and Mrs. Claus from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3 and Dec. 17. Bring your camera and have your pictures taken with them. The event is free of charge.
Several years ago, Santa and Mrs. Claus sat down and decided to pare their list of holiday events down to 50 per season. But their resolved soon withered. They have a hard time saying no. This year's list has 60 events so far.
He's even attended Santa Claus school in the Midwest, to perfect his craft. And he has no thoughts of retiring anytime soon, even though he's in his late 60s.
"It's so amazing," he said. "My heart lights up when I see a child run up to me. It makes my life special."
