Watch New Jersey Beach Bros Wrestle With Massive Shark
Two young boys took video of a shark that was reeled in before it was thrown back — yet another N.J. shark encounter this year. See videos.
Two young boys took video of a shark caught at the Jersey Shore that was reeled in by line — and by hand — before it was thrown back.
It was yet another shark encounter this year, and on Long Beach Island, where the water has been unusually warm this summer — making it a shark-friendly water habitat.
Randy Furino's 10- and 12-year-old sons filmed the encounter in Beach Haven on July 30 while they were enjoying an evening swim at about 7:50 p.m.

They watched a family reel in the shark with a fishing pole then drag it from the Long Beach Island waves (see videos below).
The fish lay on the sand for a period of time before they threw it back, Furino said.

It was one of several reports of sharks seen off the Jersey Shore this summer. This past week, witnesses say they saw a wounded dolphin getting attacked by possibly several sharks off LBI — and they, too, captured the event on video.

Furino, a Neshanic Station resident who was renting a house on Stratford Avenue in Beach Haven that week, said the shark was likely a "sand tiger."
"It'll hurt you," said Furino, who supplied the video and photos to Patch.
National Geographic, however, says sand tiger sharks are actually rather docile, usually attacking humans only in self-defense.
The shark came ashore after fishermen took a kayak out about 150-200 yards and dropped tuna as bait on their hook.
Here are two videos of the encounter:
