4 Dogs Thrown Over Fence Into Shelter; Atlantic City Man Charged: Cops

Police say that Jahlil McNeal lifted a dog over his head and dropped her into the humane society's yard, and he did the same thing in April.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ ? A man has been charged after four dogs were abandoned at the Humane Society of Atlantic County, Atlantic City police said.

Video shared by the humane society in July showed a person walking up to the fence with a dog in the middle of the night, picking the dog up and throwing her over the fence, where she lands on her back. Read more: Dog Thrown Over Fence At South Jersey Animal Shelter

Police said that the dog was missing patches of fur.

Atlantic City police launched an investigation into this on July 15 and determined that not only did Atlantic City resident Jahlil McNeal, 23, drop the dog into the yard, but he was also responsible for three additional similar dog abandonments back in April, according to a news release.

On Aug. 10, McNeal was taken into custody during a traffic stop, police said.

McNeal was charged with four counts of animal cruelty, four counts of failure to provide care to animals, two counts of theft of services and witness tampering. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
