Absegami Baseball Team Falls to Ocean City in First Round of Playoffs

The Red Raiders will host Central Regional in the quarterfinals.

Ocean City, NJ -- Sean Mooney was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs to lead top-seeded Ocean City to a 13-5 win over No. 16 Absegami in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 playoffs on Monday, according to nj.com.

Josh Arnold picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight, allowing five runs and five hits and issuing three walks. He also had two RBI and a run.

Jeremy West hit a homerun and had three RBI in the win.

Absegami’s Franco Ruiz went 2-for-3 with four RBI. Dylan Scaranda scored two runs.

Ocean City improved its record to 15-5 on the season. Absegami fell to 6-14 with one regular season game left, against Egg Harbor Township on Wednesday.

The Red Raiders will host No. 9 Central Regional in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Central upset No. 8 Hammonton, 16-1, on Monday.
