Absegami Soccer Teams To Compete For South Jersey Titles

The playoffs begin next week.

Galloway Township, NJ -- Both the Absegami High School boys and girls soccer teams have a shot at a South Jersey title this season.

The Braves boys are the No. 5 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 boys soccer tournament, according to nj.com.

Absegami will host No. 12 Seneca in the first round, to be played by Oct. 31.

The winner will play the winner of the game between No. 4 Cherry Hill West and No. 13 Highland in the second round on Nov. 3. The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 7, with the championship game set for Nov. 10.

Absegami is 11-4, and had won eight games in a row before a 3-1 loss to Ocean City, the top seed in the 16-team tournament.

Seneca is 8-9.

The Braves girls are the No. 7 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 tournament, and will host No. 10 Hammonton in the first round, to be played by Nov. 1.

The winner of that game plays the winner of the game between No. 2 Highland and No. 15 Cumberland Regional in the second round on Nov. 4. The semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 8, with the championship game scheduled for Nov. 10.

Absegami is 9-6, and has won three of its last four games.

Hammonton is 7-9.
