ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Laughter is medicinal, even during a pandemic. AC Jokes launched a drive-in comedy show, featuring performances from a pick-up truck stage and a live audio feed to car radios.

Traditional New Jersey comedy clubs remain closed because of coronavirus restrictions. But when Governor Phil Murphy allowed for certain drive-in gatherings last week, AC Jokes found an opportunity.

The shows take place in a parking lot at 146 S Tennessee Ave. The next show, which costs $20 per person in your vehicle, takes place Saturday. Food delivery is available from Tennessee Beer Hall.

Murphy announced Wednesday that vehicle gatherings don't violate his orders, as long as participants remain in cars. If vehicles are closer than 6 feet apart, all windows, sunroofs and convertible tops must stay up.

AC Jokes thanked Murphy on Twitter last week for lifting the restriction.

"Thank you for your hard work in making sure we are all safe and healthy during this time," the club tweeted. "ACJokes will be holding our first socially distanced Comedy show Drive in this Saturday at 6 and we would love to see you there."
