Atlantic City Hosts Auction To Blow Up A Former Trump Casino
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, city officials confirmed during a news conference Thursday.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino has sat empty on the Atlantic City boardwalk since 2014. Atlantic City announced plans on Thursday to demolish the vacant building in a unique way: auctioning off the chance to press a button that blows up the building.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, city officials confirmed during a news conference.
“Personally, I'm a pretty ambitious guy. I want to raise at least a million dollars and I think with everyone coming together we can accomplish that as a team," Mayor Marty Small Sr. said.

The Boys & Girls Club is a nonprofit organization that provides academic enrichment, recreational activities and workforce development for the city's young children and teens.
The planned implosion is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2021, according to Bodnar’s Auction Sales, a New Jersey-based auction house that the city has hired to collect bids.

“We are selling the experience to push the button to implode Trump Plaza. This will be done remotely and can be done anywhere in the world as well as close to the Plaza as we can safely get you there!” the auctioneer wrote online.
Bidding is live online with "a lot of action already," Small said.
