ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — UPDATE: Two lanes in each direction of Black Horse Pike have reopened in West Atlantic City after the road was closed for several hours on Tuesday due to flooding.

The Black Horse Pike in West Atlantic City was closed in both directions early Tuesday afternoon in both directions due to flooding.

Authorities said the road could be closed for several hours, advising drivers to avoid the area and use the Atlantic City Expressway to enter and exit Atlantic City.

Officials observed a water level of 6.6 feet on the mean low water scale just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Atlantic City ocean, exceeding the 6-foot threshold for "minor" flooding.

Forecasters expect the tide to fall this afternoon and reach 6.2 feet at 11:30 p.m.
