Classic Rock Fest Highlights Annual Good Old Days in Somers Point Sept. 12

The Somers Point Good Old Days Festival will present a six hour classic rock tribute Sept. 12 at John F. Kennedy Park.

The Somers Point Good Old Days Festival will present a six hour classic rock tribute Sept. 12 at John F. Kennedy Park, off of Broadway.

The headline show from 12:45 to 3:45 p.m. will feature “The Music that Made Tony Mart’s Famous” performed by Bob Campanell, Danny Eyer, Rich “Mega Hurtz” Kurtz and “Old School” Jimmy Glenn from Hawkins Road as well as guest stars Richie Taz from the Billy Walton Band and Bob Coulon from the Dane Anthony Band. Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez will also perform with the Walton band from 4 to 6 p.m.

The show reaches back to the days when Bill Haley and Conway Twitty played on Bay Ave. at Tony Mart’s and goes forward, chronologically, to 1982 when “Eddie & the Cruisers” was filmed in Somers Point.

The Geri Mingori Band will follow with a tribute to rock ‘n’ roll divas such as Stevie Nicks, Janice Joplin, Bonnie Raitt and Chrissie Hynde along with original songs of Geri Mingori until 5:45 p.m.

The music festival starts at 12 noon with a family sing-a-long show and performance by the popular Big Daddy Duo who will also do a performance and sing-a-long at 2:30 p.m.

Good Old Days will also include inexpensive food and beverages and a chance to celebrate Somers Point’s history.
