Free Veterans Day Concert At Stockton University Nov. 11

The free show will feature a program of patriotic favorites.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Bay Atlantic Symphony and Stockton University will present a free, family-friendly Veterans Day Concert on Saturday, Nov. 11, 7:30 p.m. in the Stockton University Performing Arts Center.

The Veterans Day Concert will include a program of patriotic favorites, beginning with Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man.” The symphony will perform “Armed Forces: The Pride of America,” arranged by Greg Gilpin and Larry Clark. Next is the poignant “Tribute” by modern-day composer James Grant, followed by Copland’s “John Henry.”

Act One closes with Stockton University President Dr. Harvey Kesselman presenting a stirring narration of Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait,” backed by the full power of the orchestra.

“We are exceptionally proud to welcome Harvey Kesselman as our very special guest for this concert paying tribute to all of our great Veterans,” Bay Atlantic Symphony Executive Director Meg Sippey said. “This special night of music recognizes all branches of the armed forces, and pays tribute to those who selflessly and bravely serve our nation and its guiding principles of freedom.”

After a brief intermission, the symphony will launch into “Fanfare on Amazing Grace,” from contemporary composer Adollphus Hailstork, followed by two rousing John Philip Sousa pieces: “Washington Post March” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.” The Veterans Concert comes to a climatic close with Tchaikovsky’s iconic 1812 Overture and a surprise encore.
