A Love Story From Diane Kneur

"She is the love of my life, and the biggest gift of all will be when I become her wife."

To celebrate Valentine's Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Diane Kneur's love story with her wife, Dawn:

I would love to share with you the beginning of the rest of my life. I call it: “All At Once.”

On a beautiful day six years ago, a friend I grew up with sent me a very unexpected email, telling me of someone she knew who would be perfect for me. She had always been a good listener throughout the many years of failed relationship stories, so I thought she knew by then I was done with dating all together!

But for some reason I proceeded to ask five or 10 questions about her friend Dawn. To my surprise, this girl was my perfect match. She had a huge love for children and animals, and even loved writing poems. I just couldn't wait to hear more.

So I was given her email, and told to just go ahead and say hello. By the way, I was beside myself when a picture of her popped up. She was sexier than I ever imagined, so I was a little nervous. I think I wrote a few lines of stupid rambling, trying to break the ice. A few days went by, and I was just settling myself to the fact I would be fine just being alone and pushing forward in life.

But yes, you guessed it, she wrote to me. It all just happened, all at once.

From that day on, we emailed 10 times a day. We stayed on the phone until we fell asleep because we never wanted to say goodbye or hang up (lol).

Now here we are, six years later. She is the love of my life, and the biggest gift of all will be when I become her wife. She had me at hello. I cherish each minute with her, and I am lucky to finally have that one true love.
