Man Charged With DWI After 2-Car Crash In Galloway

A Florida man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash Thursday night at Route 30 and Cologne Avenue.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A Florida man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a two-vehicle crash Thursday night at the intersection of Route 30 and Cologne Avenue.

Guardeluis Lopez-Santiago, 32, of Dover, Florida was traveling in a 2015 white Ford Transit Van on Route 30 toward Cologne Avenue around 5:15 p.m., Galloway police said.

A 2007 black Cadillac Escalade driven by Louis Sacco, 51, of Vineland turned left onto Cologne Avenue in front of the Ford van causing the crash, police said.

Lopez-Santiago was intoxicated at the time of the crash, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault by auto, aggravated assault, causing serious bodily injury while driving while suspended; and was issued several other motor vehicle summonses.

Louis Sacco was issued a motor vehicle summons for failing to yield to oncoming traffic at an intersection.

The Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare Paramedics and the Germania Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene.

Lopez-Santiago and his passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken to Atlanticare City Division for treatment. Louis Sacco was taken to AtlantiCare Mainland Division for treatment of moderate injuries, police said.

Parts of the road were closed for about two hours while police investigated the crash. The crash is still under investigation by Patrolman Steve Garrison and Patrolman Nicholas Stewart.
