Man Wanted In Fatal Atlantic City Stabbing Taken Into Custody

The Philadelphia man wanted for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend at the Hard Rock Hotel turned himself in Monday night, authorities said

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — The Philadelphia man wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend at the Hard Rock Hotel turned himself in Monday night, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Tuesday.

Frankie E. Lane, 59, turned himself in to detectives without incident at the Prosecutor's Office. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said.

Atlantic City police found a body with multiple stab wounds in a hotel room Friday at 9:45 p.m., Tyner said. The woman was identified as Sharon Whaley, 57, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Whaley's boyfriend, Lane, was charged with murder and weapons offenses after an investigation by the ACPO’s Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department, Tyner said.

The ACPO and Atlantic City and Philadelphia police are investigating the incident.

"I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies which worked cooperatively to quickly identify and apprehend this suspect," Tyner said. "We continue to work diligently in order to obtain more answers as to why this tragedy occurred, so that we can pursue justice for the deceased and her family."
