Maroon 5 Concert Packs Atlantic City Sunday

Rock band Maroon 5, drew an estimated 50,000 fans to the beach in Atlantic City for a concert. Country stars Rascal Flatts play Thursday.

According to the Atlantic City Alliance, an estimated 50,000 people jammed the Atlantic City beach late Sunday afternoon to catch the Maroon 5 concert, more than expected for a show whose cheapest ticket was almost $40.

The concert packed Atlantic City. The scene after the show showed a Boardwalk crowded with the kind of numbers common in the resort a century ago, bolstering a resort down on its heels with the loss of four casino hotels in less than two years and struggling to re-invent itself. Restaurants within blocks of the mid-Boardwalk site had long lines waiting to get in.

If you missed this musical setting, fear not. Country kings, Rascal Flatts, do the beach thing Thursday afternoon with the Riot Tour, says the DOAC website. Same location: on the beach between The Playground at Arkansas Avenue and Central Pier at St. James Place. Ashley Monroe will open up for the band.
