Drowning Victim From Atlantic County ID'd By Officials

County officials have identified the 23-year-old drowning victim who was recovered Sunday from the water of Weymouth Furnace.

MAYS LANDING, NJ — County officials have identified the 23-year-old drowning victim who was recovered from the water of Weymouth Furnace on Sunday.

Carlos Alvarado, of Hammonton, was located in the water around 4:30 p.m., officials said.

Weymouth Furnace was closed for the investigation and reopened to the public on Tuesday.

Weymouth Furnace is a county park in Mays Landing, and a popular spot for canoeing, kayaking and tubing along the Great Egg Harbor River.

Officials are urging the public to only swim in guarded, designated areas.

Swimming is not permitted in county parks and signs are posted to advise visitors, officials said.
