Police Warn Of Rise In Vehicle Break-Ins, Thefts In Galloway

Galloway police are asking for renewed vigilance amid a recent uptick in car burglaries and thefts.

GALLOWAY, NJ — Galloway police are asking for renewed vigilance amid a recent uptick in car burglaries and thefts.

The incidents have primarily occurred in the Smithville and Club sections of the township.

In all of these incidents, vehicles were left unlocked. In the case of the car thefts, a key or key fob was left in the vehicle, police said.

Galloway police are urging residents to keep vehicles locked at all times and to refrain from leaving key fobs in vehicles with push button starts and door lock entry codes.

Due to this practice, criminals can easily access vehicles and drive off with them, police said.

Police are advising residents not to leave wallets, purses, money, cell phones or other items openly visible inside of their vehicle.
