'Secret Santa' Picks Up Tabs At South Jersey Walmart

An unidentified person brought some early Christmas cheer to South Jersey.

HAMMONTON, NJ - Secret Santa strikes again. For the second straight year, layaway gifts at a South Jersey retail store were paid off by an unknown person filled with the spirit of the holiday.

This time, it was the Walmart on the White Horse Pike in Hammonton, a Walmart spokesperson confirmed to Patch Monday afternoon.

An unknown number of presents for an unknown number of people were paid for, and the total value and person who paid for them wasn’t revealed.

This year’s charity seems to be on a nationwide scale. In total, about $18,000 worth of layaway items were paid for by a Tulsa charity at Walmart stores in the midwest, according to newson6.com.

A Secret Santa also picked up the $29,000 layaway tab at a Walmart in Chester County and $45,000 at a Walmart in Colorado. For those paying the bill and those who benefit, it truly seems to be the season for giving.
