Stockton University will require all residential and commuter students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine for the fall semester.
GALLOWAY, NJ — Stockton University will require all residential and commuter students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine for the fall semester.
Students must submit their vaccination documentation to Student Health Services at least two weeks prior to arrival on campus, but no later than Aug. 1, unless they have a medical or religious exemption.
Stockton University President Harvey Kesselman said the requirement is part of the university’s efforts to provide a safe environment for students.

“One of the most important steps we all can take to keep ourselves and each other safe is to get vaccinated. It is the responsible thing to do,” Kesselman said in a news release.
According to Kesselman, the requirement received unanimous support from the university's Board of Trustees. The decision was made after discussions with peer institutions, and state and local healthcare professionals.

Kesselman also encourages staff and faculty to get the COVID-19 vaccine. As of Thursday, more than 35 percent of Stockton employees have voluntarily reported that they have been vaccinated.
"This gives us confidence going forward we can achieve a high rate of participation," Kesselman said.
More details about the vaccine requirement, including how and when students can submit proof of vaccination will be provided in the coming weeks on the university’s website.
