EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ — Brayan F. Serrano was taken too young, according to his brother. The 18-year-old Egg Harbor Township man died in a crash early Saturday morning, police said. His car lost traction and hit a utility pole on the driver-side door.

Serrano was a senior at Egg Harbor Township High School, according to The Press of Atlantic City. His brother, Jorge, established a GoFundMe to assist his family with funeral costs.

"He was taken too young and me and my family would be grateful for donations of any kind," Jorge said.

The crash occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Delaware Avenue — west of Hollyberry Avenue — in the Bargaintown section of Egg Harbor Township. Serrano, who was driving westbound on Delaware Avenue, tried negotiating the bend in the roadway and lost control, police said.

His vehicle continued to slide before hitting the pole and entrapping him. The Bargaintown Fire Company helped Serrano out of the car.

The Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare Paramedics treated Serrano at the scene. They took him to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The GoFundMe set a goal of $4,500 and has raised $6,525 as of Monday morning. All funds left over after funeral expenses will support a charity to be determined.

"Brayan was a wonderful young man, I will miss him!" said one donor. "¡Hasta luego! ¡Descansa en Paz!"

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-2661.
