MONTGOMERY, NJ — One man was arrested and two others remain at large following a drug deal turned armed robbery in Montgomery earlier this year.
George C. Battle 4th, 18, of Drewes Court in Lawrence was charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-degree conspiracy to commit armed robbery and second-degree luring following the robbery on Jan. 17, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
On Jan. 25, a juvenile said he made plans through a social media app to conduct a drug deal on Jan. 17 at about 6:30 p.m., said Robertson.

When the juvenile arrived a man entered the passenger seat of his car and pointed a black gun at him while a second man entered the back seat of his car and demanded his wallet, cell phone, car keys and hat, said Robertson.
The two men physically removed the juvenile from his car and ordered him into a silver BMW sedan driven by a woman. One of the men with a gun hit the victim over the head with the butt of the gun and a ski mask was placed over the victim’s head, said Robertson.

The juvenile was driven to a nearby ATM where he was told to withdraw money $420 and gave it to the men and woman.
As a result of an investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Montgomery Township Police Department, Battle was identified as one of the people involved in the robbery, said Robertson.
On Wednesday, April 28, Battle was taken into custody at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office without incident. The investigation remains ongoing into the identification of the other people involved.
