2 Hillsborough Teens Named Somerset County Outstanding 4-H’er
"An Outstanding 4-H'er must be an exemplary role model, demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to community service"

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Two Hillsborough teens were among three to be chosen as Somerset County Outstanding 4-H’ers by the 4-H Association.
Paige Lamberson, 18, of Hillsborough, has been a Somerset County 4-H member for 13 years.
She was most active in Wattles N Snood 4-H Poultry club, but she also helps with the 4-H Magicians club and has been a member of The Puppetry Club and Clover Ensemble Theatre Arts club. Paige has been a mentor to younger members as a TOPS Camp Counselor. She has been a presenter at Science-Sational Day and has helped with Panning for Gems at the Somerset County 4-H Fair. Paige uses her leadership skills as the current President of Wattles N Snood 4-H Poultry Club.

When Melissa Bright, 18, of Hillsborough, joined the New Centre Dairy 4-H Club, she really blossomed in 4H. It is clearly evident how working with the cows has brought out the best in her. She is an extremely dedicated member who builds a great relationship with her project animals every year.
Melissa has been treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and now President of New Center Dairy 4-H Club. She is also this year’s Somerset County Dairy Princess, where she teaches younger members about dairy cows. She is the 4-H Senior Council health officer and treasurer. She has taught at Science Sensational day, and been a counselor at TOPS camp. She has competed in Dairy Quiz Bowl for the last 5 years and has helped with wreath sales and tricky tray.

The award is based on a member’s participation in several areas including:
- Club involvement is very important;
- Offices held;
- How well they mentor younger members;
- How they help leaders plan and implement educational activities in their project areas.
- Participation in county events;
- Public presentations;
- Judging teams;
- Helping out at 4-H Association events, such as the Somerset County 4-H Fair and camp counselling.
- Participation in State Events and National Events.
"Most importantly an Outstanding 4-H’er must be an exemplary role model, demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to community service," according to the 4-H Association.
