7 Holiday Brews To Bring Cheer In Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — What's brewing this holiday season? Flounder Brewing Company in Hillsborough and Jersey Cyclone Brewing Company in Somerset shared their holiday specialties to bring some cheer this season.

Flounder Brewing Company

Jeremy "Flounder" Lees, owner of Flounder Brewing Company at 1 Ilene Ct., Suite 16, Hillsborough, said his main seasonal right now for the holiday is St. Nick Christmas Ale.

St. Nick Christmas Ale is 6.6 percent ABV and has a clove and allspice aroma with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. It also has rich flavors of clove spice and sweet orange peel.

Other current December seasonals at Flounder include:

Smooth Operator Vanilla Porter is 6 percent ABV. It has a roasted character throughout, medium body and mouthfeel, subtle hop presence, and pleasant vanilla finish.

Breakfast Ale is 6 percent ABV. It is an amber ale with a smooth mouthfeel from milk sugar additions and conditioned with a custom cinnamon cold brew coffee.

Jersey Cyclone Brewing Company

Jan Chwiedosiuk, owner of Jersey Cyclone Brewing at 14 Worlds Fair Drive, Unit J in Somerset, says they have "some pretty awesome dessert stouts in the tanks for the holidays."

The following stouts will be available between Christmas and New Years:

• Banana Foster Stout - an Imperial Stout with maple syrup, coffee, vanilla, and oak chip.
• Salted Peanut Butter Stout

Chwiedosiuk also has two more holiday specials that will be available on Dec. 21 for purchase in cans including:

• Eye Of The Storm Galaxy
• Calm Before The Storm - a milk stout
