HILLSBOROUGH, NJ ? After 25 years of serving up ice cream to the community, the owners of the family-owned Super Sundaes announced they are closing.

"After some soul searching, long discussions, and 25 years of serving our customers and community, we have decided that it is time for us to retire," said owners Jayne and Steve Mochnacz.

"We discussed these retirement plans along with celebrating family milestones; toasting our son?s engagement and commemorating our daughter?s graduation, a Masters in Education, from Newcastle University," said the Mochnaczs.

Super Sundaes, located at 435 Amwell Road, Suite 3, is currently closed for the holiday season and will reopen as planned on Jan. 24.

They will then close around Feb. 14 to give customers the opportunity to find a reason to celebrate "One More Time!"

Along with being well known for its tasty ice cream and cakes, Super Sundaes is also known for its generosity.

They are still hosting their Annual Ice Cream for Breakfast Fundraiser benefitting Steps Together on Feb. 3.

"You and Steve so deserve this, I?m happy for you but will miss such an important part of our community. You?ve done so much for Steps Together since the day it started and incredibly will still honor us on your farewell tour. You?ve been a financial supporter but also our eyes and ears in the community always helping us grow. I?m very excited for all that is ahead for you but will miss you dearly. Thank goodness a friendship beyond your storefront grew over all the work we did together in town and some great ice cream," wrote Steps Together.

The retirement announcement received a huge response from the community with more than 760 Facebook reactions and 350 comments.

"Thank you for being such an amazing part of the community for so many years. We?ve enjoyed your ice cream since before our boys were born, and after they?ve always loved getting Super Sundaes! You will be missed but we wish you all the best in your retirement!" wrote one customer.

"A staple in the community. You guys have worked hard and built a great business. I want to personally thank you for all of your support for the numerous events I planned over the years when my kids were smaller. It?s greatly appreciated. Wishing you the best of luck in your next endeavor," said another customer.

While the ice cream shop will soon close, the Mochnaczs are looking for anyone who is interested in continuing their business. Anyone interested is asked to reach out to them as soon as possible. Call the shop at 908-904-4811 or message on facebook.com.
