Clothes Dryer Sparks Fire In Hillsborough Home

Firefighters battled a fire at a home on Brookside Lane in Hillsborough on Wednesday night.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A clothes dryer sparked a fire in a Hillsborough home on Wednesday night.

Firefighters from Hillsborough went to the home at 502 Brookside Lane at 6:12 p.m. for a report of smoke coming from the dryer.

When firefighters got to the home they found a large amount of smoke coming from inside and a large fire in the basement, according to Station 37 Fire.

As a result, more fire departments were called out. Along with Hillsborough Fire Companies 36, 37 and 38 and Flagtown help was offered by the Hillsborough Police, Robert Wood Johnson, Bridgewater and Franklin. Standby companies from Raritan, Manville, Montgomery and Franklin also helped.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire to the basement of the home.

No one was injured and the fire does not appear to be suspicious, said Hillsborough Police Corporal Jack Howard.
