First Female Township Mayor Dies at 84
The first woman to be chosen as the mayor of Hillsborough Township died earlier this week in Princeton.

The first female mayor of Hillsborough Township died at the age of 84 earlier this week, according to reports.
Marian Fenwick died Monday evening at the University Medical Center of Princeton, according to CentralJersey.com. Fenwick was just a week shy of her 85th birthday on June 15.
Fenwick became the first female Township Committee member when she was elected to a three-year term in 1969, assuming office in January 1970, the report said. She later became the mayor of Hillsborough Township in 1972.

According to the report, a moment of silence was held at the latest Township Committee meeting following an announcement of Fenwick’s death.
