Flooding Closes Roads Across Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — A flood warning and a tornado watch have been issued for Somerset County.

The flood warning is issued for Somerset County through noon on Tuesday due to the heavy rain. The tornado watch is also in effect through 7 p.m. Monday.

Roads are already beginning to close due to flooding such as:

• Griggstown Causeway in Montgomery
• Route 22 and Washington Avenue intersection in Green Brook
• Talamini Road at Country Club Road and Red Lion Way in Bridgewater
• Cedarbrook Road at Country Club Road in Bridgewater
• Doolittle Drive at Vanderveer Road in Bridgewater
• West End Avenue and Rock Avenue in North Plainfield
• South Middlebush Road in Somerset

Here is a look at the upcoming weather, according to the NWS:

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 10 p.m., then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, mainly between noon and 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
