Flood Watch Issued For Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch on Thursday for Somerset County due to heavy rain expected throughout the day. The watch will remain in effect through 6 a.m. on Friday.

Bands of moderate to locally heavy rain will develop across the region bringing between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain throughout the day Thursday and into the evening, according to the NWS.

Rain is expected all day on Thursday and possibly into Friday before clearing up for the weekend.

Thursday: Periods of rain. Areas of fog. High near 49. East wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain, mainly before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers after 1 a.m. Areas of fog. Low around 41. Northeast wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday: A chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54. West wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night: A chance of rain showers before 11 p.m., then a slight chance of snow showers between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a northwest wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 28.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 58.
