Freeholders Honor Clark Diggs After NJ Hall of Fame Induction

It's been a busy couple of weeks since Hillsborough resident Joetta Clark Diggs was inducted into the New Jersey hall of Fame—but for someone who won Olympic medals in distance running, that's really nothing new.

Tuesday, the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders presented a proclamation honoring Clark Diggs for her inclusion in the Hall, noting not only her lengthy list of athletic accomplishments, but also her work since retiring from competitive athletics.

"Whereas Joetta Clark Diggs has made her mark as an inspiring motivational speaker, a respected business woman, critically-acclaimed author, noted television personality, and advocate for children's health and wellness initiatives," Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione read from the county's proclamation. 

The proclamation congratulated her and expressed the board's admiration not only on her "outstanding career" in sports, but also as a "citizen committed to helping the youth of our county."

Clark Diggs said the Hall of Fame honor was one of her favorite accolades to have received. She joins Paul Robeson, John Basilone and Meryl Streep as the Hall's only Somerset County members.
