Funeral Set For Somerset Man Killed In Crash With Deer

Mark Rodgers, 63, of Somerset died on Nov. 28 after succumbing to the injuries that he suffered in the crash with a buck deer.

SOMERSET, NJ — A funeral will be held Monday for the Somerset man who died after a buck deer smashed into his car during Thanksgiving weekend.

Mark J. Rodgers, 63, of Somerset died on Nov. 28, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at New Brunswick, after succumbing to the injuries that he suffered in the crash on Nov. 24.

The Funeral will be held on Monday beginning at 10 a.m. at the Brenna Funeral Home, Immordino Chapel, 1799 Klockner Road, Hamilton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Vincent DePaul Church, 555 Yardville-Allentown Road, Hamilton on Monday at 11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Jacobstown Schoolhouse Cemetery, 14 Schoolhouse Road, Wrightstown.

Rodgers was born and raised in the Franklin Park section of Trenton. He resided in Somerset for the past 19 years.

Rodgers was a graduate of Saint Anthony’s High School, Hamilton. He achieved his undergraduate work at Marietta College, Ohio, his Masters Degree at Miami University in Ohio, and his Ph.D. at Northwestern University, in Illinois.

Rodgers was an Eagle Scout, receiving the Order of the Arrow. He was a Ham Radio operator, loved to travel, swim, enjoyed his walks and loved to play with his kittens.

Son of the late Edward B. and Mary E. Cahill Rodgers, son-in-law of the late Florence M. Brown, and brother of the late Jane Rodgers. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Paula Brown; his father-in-law, James E. Brown; a brother, Edward F. Rodgers, and his wife Erin; his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Fruscione, Christine G. Rodgers, Theresa C. Tingo, and her husband Tim, and Audrey Mainzer, and her husband Martin; his brothers-in-law, James E Brown, II and his wife Shonda, and Michael S. Brown; his sisters-in-law, Denise L. Brown, Lisa M. Clark, and her husband David; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and colleagues.
