Girls On The Run Central Jersey Gets Scholarship Donation

The donation will offer scholarships to girls in low-income communities to be able to take part in the Girls On The Run program.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey (GOTRCNJ) received a major scholarship donation from Wade Ray, a certified Women’s Business Enterprise.

“The generosity of Wade Ray helps us to continue to offer scholarships to girls in low-income communities who would not otherwise have the opportunity to take part in the life-changing program. We’re grateful to have the support of passionate individuals whose investment in our program helps ensure that all girls have the chance to participate," said Donna York, Executive Director of GOTRCNJ.

Girls on the Run of Central New Jersey is a nonprofit organization serving Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth, Camden and Ocean counties. It is a positive youth development after school program for girls in 3rd through 8th grades teaching them critical life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons, while creatively integrating running.

The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.

“What we liked about the GOTRCNJ curriculum is the emphasis on instilling confidence and teaching teamwork and goal-setting through active learning. As a woman-owned business, donating to the program’s scholarship fund was important to us, so more girls could have the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile program”, said Melanie Schnitzlein, Vice President of Business Development & Marketing for Wade-Ray.
