Halloween Drive-By Scavenger Hunt Set For Somerset County
Hillsborough teacher Jaime DelRocco set up a hunt for families in Branchburg, Bridgewater, Raritan, Hillsborough and Somerville.
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Halloween this year will undoubtedly be celebrated very differently than in years past. For those that may feel uncomfortable celebrating with an in-person event, Hillsborough teacher and Branchburg mother Jaime Marie DelRocco is hosting a socially-distanced event.
DelRocco is hosting a Halloween Drive-By Scavenger Hunt on Oct. 31 for families in Branchburg, Bridgewater, Raritan, Hillsborough and Somerville.
"As a mom and teacher I wanted to do something to help out the community," said DelRocco, an art teacher in Hillsborough. "Kids should be first, especially in a time like this. We want to keep them engaged and happy."

Families interested in participating can send an email to jamerzandb@gmail.com. Families will be given an item to place outside their home and a map will be distributed with the street names of each home. The numbers of the homes will not be listed to keep the scavenger hunt element.
Then families can drive down the street looking for the items and when they find one there will be fun tasks assigned to it.

"I wanted to make a fun game to go along with it," DelRocco said. "For example, if they find a pumpkin they will clap three times or if they find a bat they will tell their family they love them."
This is the 6th scavenger hunt DelRocco has organized since the pandemic hit. With a one-and-a-half-year-old at home, DelRocco needed to get creative to keep her son entertained.
Under her business name, The Adventures Of Jamerz And B, DelRocco began rolling out children’s videos where she offered DIY arts and crafts families could do together at home and storytelling videos.
"I wanted to do more to help parents keep their kids happy, busy and safe during these times," DelRocco said.
Her past scavenger hunts have garnered attention with more than 400 people participating and she hopes to continue to expand this venture.
