Road Closures, Outages: Hillsborough Storm Update
Hillsborough set up a water-filling, cooling, and charging station. The Auten Road facility is also open to drop off storm debris.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Roughly 1,100 Hillsborough residents remain without power on Thursday night. Here is the latest update on road closures, outage numbers, and help offered to those without power following Tropical Storm Isaias.
As of Thursday at 6 p.m., there are 133 PSE&G customers and 1,047 JCP&L customers in Hillsborough who are still without power.
In Somerset County, 2,676 PSE&G customers and 14,300 JCP&L customers remain without power.
PSE&G estimates power could be restored as late as Monday at 3 p.m., while JCP&L estimates power could be restored as late as Tuesday at 11:30 p.m.

Looking at the roads in Hillsborough, here is a list of closures that remain due to the storm as of 4 p.m. Thursday:
- Blackpoint Road at Amwell
- Longhill Road
- Montgomery Road
- Westbound Camplain Road
- River Road and Roycefield Road
- Millstone River Road from Strawberry to Amsterdam
- Franklin Drive
- Magda Lane
- E Mountain Road between Amwell and Mountainview
- South Triangle Road remains closed for utility work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for several weeks
Drivers are asked to follow posted detours and exercise caution while traveling through these areas. Expect delays.

Help is also available for residents who remain without power.
Hillsborough has opened cooling and charging stations at the Municipal Complex, 379 South Branch Road, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, for Hillsborough residents who have lost power.
The township has also set up a water filling station where residents without water are able to fill their own containers at the Municipal Complex from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Friday.
Residents must sign in, wear masks while in the building, and adhere to physical distancing requirements for the cooling, charging, or water filling stations.
Additionally, JCP&L is offering water and ice for its customers at the Branchburg Shoprite at 3166 Route 22.
PSE&G has also set up several Customer Comfort Stations. Following physical distancing and state health guidelines, customers can receive free water and ice by driving up and opening their trunks so employees can place water and ice in it. The comfort stations will be open Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Kennedy Center (Willingboro Recreation and Parks Department), 429 John F. Kennedy Way, Willingboro
- Lawrence Township Municipal Building, 2207 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville
- Lumberton Township Municipal Complex, 34 Municipal Drive, Lumberton
- Steven Adubato Sports Complex, Near Branchbrook Park Drive & Bloomfield Avenue, Newark
- Warinanco Park Ice Skating Rink, 1 Park Drive, Roselle
For those with storm debris, the Hillsborough Township Public Works Department will open the Auten Road Debris Facility on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to allow residents to drop off tree debris from the storm.
Residents must show ID at the gate. The Auten Road Debris Facility is located opposite of the Auten Road School, next to the railroad tracks.
Due to COVID-19, the following safety practices are mandatory. Those who do not adhere to these practices will be turned away at the gate:
- Residents MUST wear a mask and gloves at all times while at the facility
- Residents MUST adhere to social distancing
- Residents MUST NOT exit their vehicle until they are informed to do so
