Hillsborough Eagle Scout To Clean Up Triangle School Garden

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough resident Patrick McCarthy is collecting funds for his Eagle Scout Service Project to clean and restore a part of the Friendship Garden at Triangle School.
"For a very long time, the Friendship Garden at Triangle School has not been taken care of," said McCarthy. "It is overgrown and there are weeds everywhere and dirt on the bricks. I am cleaning it up and fixing the benches for teachers and students to use."
McCarthy is going to weed and remove dead plants, sand and repaint the wooden bench, clean the plastic benches, power wash and sand the paver bricks, replace rocks and build a new sign.

He set up a GoFundMe page to raise $800 to help cover the costs for cleaning supplies and to purchase new rocks, sand, plants, and lumber.
A scout since the fifth grade, McCarthy has previously gone to Triangle School and wanted to give back. That is when he reached out to Principal Anthony Aliperti who suggested the Friendship Garden.

He started work last weekend with the help of some friends, his mother Lynnette and his scout master.
"It feels good," said McCarthy of helping his former school. "I know I am helping the students and teachers which is a good thing overall."
"I am so very proud of him," said McCarthy's mom Lynnette. "I think this is a great project to help his former school, students, and teachers especially in a time when being outside is a good thing to get fresh air."
McCarthy's goal is to be able to complete this project by the end of May. To donate or learn more about his project click here.
"Any donation you can offer to help me achieve my goal of completing this project will be greatly appreciated," said McCarthy.
