Hillsborough Graduate Appointed To West Point Military Academy

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough High School graduate Adam Gottlieb was appointed to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Gottlieb was among 15 students from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District who have been appointed to one of the United States Service Academies for the upcoming fall semester.

Congressman Tom Malinowski was able to nominate 40 qualified candidates from the district to the United States Airforce Academy, Merchant Marine Academy, Military Academy at West Point and Naval Academy.

Out of these 40 nominations, 7 students were admitted to West Point, 4 to the Merchant Marine Academy, 2 to the Naval Academy and 2 to the Air Force Academy.

Malinowski hosted a virtual reception this week to congratulate the admits and their families and to thank them for setting out on a path of service.

"It is always an honor to nominate so many incredible students to our nation's most prestigious institutions," said Representative Malinowski. "I congratulate the 15 young men and women from my district who will be attending service academies in the fall, and am grateful for their commitment to our country and its ideals. I look forward to learning about their future accomplishments."

United States Military Academy at West Point

• Amber Chen – Roxbury High School
• Emma Gamboa – Oak Knoll High School
• Adam Gottlieb – Hillsborough High School
• Austin Groce – Summit High School
• Weber Karsay – Montgomery High School
• Liam Kephardt – Delaware Valley Regional High School

United States Merchant Marine Academy

• Andrew Furciato – Blair Academy
• Steven Lueng – The Lawrenceville School
• Sawyer Melick – Ridge High School
• Andrew Zalescik – South Hunterdon High School

United States Air Force Academy

• Kathleen Horton – North Hunterdon High School
• Blake Januzzi – Governor Livingston High School

United States Naval Academy

• Lilliana Gemma – Hunterdon Central High School
• Liam Henderson – Oratory Prep
