HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Fire Department's annual Santa run has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, announced the department Wednesday.

"The risks and potential for unnecessary exposure to our members, our families and the residents, especially during the holiday season, carried enough weight for us to make the difficult decision of canceling this year's Santa Runs," stated the Hillsborough Fire District in a letter to the community.

Santa is expected to return in 2021 atop the fire trucks.
