Hillsborough's Virtual Christmas Tree Lighting Postponed

Hillsborough is postponing its virtual Christmas Tree Lighting, scheduled for Friday night, due to bad weather.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough is postponing its virtual Christmas Tree Lighting, scheduled for Friday night, to Monday due to bad weather.

"We have a lot of electronic equipment this year that we don't want to find out if its weatherproof or not," said Hillsborough Mayor Doug Tomson.

The lighting will be streamed on Monday at 6:30 p.m. virtually via Zoom and on the Township's YouTube Channel. Santa will also be coming out to light the tree with many safety precautions in place.

Registration to attend the Christmas Tree Lighting Zoom event are as follows:

After registering, residents will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. When in the Zoom webinar, residents are asked to turn on their audio and video to be seen and heard.

Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with some holiday music and video clips of previous events. At about 6:55 p.m., Mayor Tomson will welcome all Zoom viewers for the arrival of Santa. Santa's arrival is expected to be at 7 p.m.
