HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A New Jersey husband and wife team is putting roots down in Hillsborough as it recently opened Pet Supplies Plus.
Andy Sole and his wife Denise Gianotti took over the former Pet Valu in Nelson's Corner at 601 Route 206.
A Rutgers University graduate and central Jersey native Sole took a big leap leaving corporate America to run his own pet store franchise.

"I liked Pet Supplies Plus because it has a mom and pop feel," said Sole. "When I thought about what made New Jersey great, it was the private businesses. There are so many large, big box stores and I figured if I can bring a pet business with a local feel I would consider it."
Sole and Gianotti are pet lovers so taking this step felt natural.

"We have no kids and three dogs," said Sole. "We like seeing people happy with their animals. And to be able to offer affordable pet supplies is great."
The couple held a soft opening last week and are planning a grand opening with a ribbon-cutting in early April. Sole wants to overhaul the entire store to add more shelving, products, and services for residents.
"We will have a new cricket display, fish display, bakery display, more shelving, a new sign, and overall a fresher, cleaner look," said Sole.
The store also has pet washes and Sole plans to host adoption events in the future.
