Man Shot While Driving Through Franklin Intersection: Police

Authorities are investigating two shootings on Sunday in Franklin Township including one where a New Brunswick man was shot in his car.

FRANKLIN, NJ — Authorities are investigating two shootings on Sunday in Franklin Township including one where a New Brunswick man was shot while driving his car.

Just before 4 a.m., police went to the area of Elizabeth Street in New Brunswick where they found an injured man who was reportedly shot while in the area of Hamilton Street and Franklin Boulevard in Franklin Township, said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson.

The New Brunswick man had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound while driving his car in the area of the intersection and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said Robertson.

Later that same day at about 6:51 p.m., a 911 call reported shots being fired in the area of Millstone Road in Franklin.

Franklin Township Police found a home and a nearby car were damaged by gunshots and also found numerous spent bullet casings, Robertson said.

No injuries were reported in the second shooting.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department are investigating both shootings.

It is unknown if the two shooting incidents are related. Detectives have received limited cooperation, said Robertson.
