An open letter to the Biden/Harris team – We need an Economy Czar/Teacher – A ‘Dr. Fauci for the economy’

Our country is facing 2 pandemics right now; the Covid-19 pandemic and an economic pandemic. Looks like the incoming presidential team has identified the team to educate and address the public about how they are fighting Covid-19 but now we need the economic education team to address the economic fight we are facing. The majority of the US population has no, zero, nada understanding of the economy nor do they understand how bills passed by congress and the senate affect their pocket books, salaries, and financial well-being. It’s time we changed this education gap… and quickly. Terms like stimulus, deficits, trickle-down, tax cuts, tax giveaways, the stock market, etc are meaningless to most and when politicians talk about how great (or poorly) the economy is, regular people tune out. It’s time we had some basic understanding about what makes up an economy and how we can make it grow.

We are currently the world’s largest economy but we are in trouble. China is nipping at our heels and will surely overtake us if we do not start today, fighting this. We are number 1 aren’t we?

Let’s start with explaining how to grow an economy. Let’s get some unknown (no political baggage) high school economics teacher, with a dynamic personality, (an Elizabeth Warren type – she’d be great or a Ross Perot type with charts and graphs) to explain how trickle down doesn’t and has never worked. Let’s start with daily economy briefings, in simple terms. Something grade school kids can understand. Let’s start this fight to grow the economy. Let’s explain how a $2,000 payment to individuals (making less than $75k) enters the economy. Let’s contrast that with how a $1.9 Trillion tax cut for the wealthiest 1% affects (or doesn’t affect) the economy. Let’s show this night after night in primetime. Let’s have kids making a tik-tok song or video to handle simple concepts. Let’s post simple economic theory on FB and IG. It’s time! It’s way past time. Let’s create a ‘fight’ that will unite this country against economic ruin. This is truly a war/fight we can and must win. Democrats and republicans alike can surely unite to improve our economy and the lives of every citizen. Let’s do this NOW.
