Somerset Valley Players Announces ‘Spring Season of Comedy’
SVP Presents Three Virtual Productions in April, May and June.

“If there’s ever been a time for laughter and lightness, it’s been the past 12 months,” says Roberta Steve, President of the Somerset Valley Players, a nonprofit community theatre in Hillsborough, NJ. “That’s why SVP has developed a virtual ‘mini season’ of three consecutive shows that will offer sparkling dialogue, hilarious situations, and comic characters to help welcome in sunny weather and the hope of better times ahead.”
The three comedies are:
- The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, streaming April 16, 24 and May 2.
- The Radio Play Disaster by Don Zolidis, streaming May 14, 22, 23.
- Four Weddings and an Elvis by Nancy Frick, streaming June 4, 5, 12, 13.
“The three shows we’ve selected offer a variety of subject matter and styles,” explains Todd Bennington, Vice President of Production. “The Importance of Being Earnest is a classic English comedy of manners. The Radio Play Disaster borders on farce where everything that can go wrong in a situation does. Four Weddings and an Elvis is more character driven as it follows four couples at a Vegas wedding chapel.”

“Tickets for each show will be $12 per device, so couples can cuddle up for a ‘date night’ of delightful entertainment,” adds Steve. “Tickets will be available on our website, www.svptheatre.org.”
“Of course we’d love to be performing on stage,” states Bennington, “but the pandemic has changed how we can offer theatre to audiences. We’ve produced several successful virtual productions to date, and we’re really excited to offer three consecutive shows this Spring.”
