Lakewood Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal 2018 Crash, 2020 Burglary
Mashon Wilson admitted he left the scene of a November 2018 crash that killed a Baltimore man.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — A Lakewood man has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a 2018 crash that killed one man and left another critically injured, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Mashon Wilson, 30, pleaded guilty Friday to knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in death and to driving while suspended, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Wilson was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra that was involved in a crash with a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban that crashed into a tree near West County Line Road and Cedar Road about 7 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2018. The crash killed passenger Yechiel Yitzchak Finegold, 20 of Baltimore, and critically injured the driver.

Police were able to trace the car to a Lakewood home where they found Wilson and two women, Shayna Lee, 49, and Iyanna Hall, 30, both of Lakewood. Lee and Hall told police Lee was the driver of the Nissan in question, and had left the scene of the accident, but the investigation revealed the two had lied and Wilson was, in fact, the driver.
Lee and Hall both were charged with hindering the apprehension of another by giving a false statement; those charges remain pending, Billhimer said.

In addition, Wilson pled guilty to an unrelated burglary charge; he was arrested in February 2020 in connection with a burglary at Bnos Yisroel School where 23 Samsung tablets were stolen.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 8 by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan, and the state will be seeking six years in prison on the leaving the scene of a crash charge, and four years on the burglary charge, with the sentences to run concurrently.
Wilson is being held at the Ocean County Jail.
Senior Assistant Prosecutor Jamie Schron handled the case. Lakewood Township Police, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit investigated.
