LAKEWOOD, NJ — New Jersey's delayed primary elections are just over two weeks away, and officials are preparing for changes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In April, Gov. Phil Murphy delayed primary day a month, from its usual early June date because officials anticipated the outbreak of the coronavirus wouldn't be as severe. The delay aimed to give the state more time to prepare for mail-in voting.
Since then, the state has ordered counties to mail ballots to residents who are registered as Republicans or Democrats, and mail-in ballot applications to other registered voters.
