LAKEWOOD, NJ — Lakewood residents were being urged to stay off the roads due to icy conditions as a nor'easter continues to move through the area Monday into Tuesday.

A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service was expected to remain in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday. Snow accumulations were increasing, with Lakewood and other towns more inland seeing greater totals than Ocean County's coastal areas.

The continuing effects from the storm led Lakewood School District officials to close the schools on Tuesday for the second straight day. Lakewood public school students have been attending fully in person since the start of the school year in September. The schools are not switching to remote instruction.
