Lakewood Schools Closed Thursday; School Board Meeting Postponed
The reorganization meeting has been rescheduled.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — The Lakewood Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 4, due to the impending winter storm.
School district officials announced the closure Wednesday night in the wake of a blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service. The warning said the forecast includes as much as 6 inches of snow and strong wind gusting to as much as 50 mph that could cause whiteout conditions. The blizzard warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Thursday.
District officials also said the Board of Education reorganization meeting that had been scheduled for Thursday has been postponed to Monday, Jan. 8.

The school calendar does not have any emergency closure days built in; typically snow days are added to the end of the school year, which had been tentatively scheduled for June 18.
