Storm Leaves Lakewood With More Snow, Icy Roads
The snow and freezing rain left roads icy and hazardous on Friday morning.

LAKEWOOD, NJ — Snow and a lot of icy precipitation made a mess of the roads in Lakewood and Ocean County on Thursday, and the effects of the storm were lingering into Friday.
Officials warned about unsafe driving conditions, which were expected to linger into Friday morning, because of the mix of snow, sleet and freezing temperatures.
Lakewood received more than 3 inches of snow, with 3 inches reported as of 3:45 p.m. in Leisure Village East, according to the National Weather Service.

While the township worked on the roads, the sleet and freezing rain made the roads hazardous, and with temperatures dropping overnight, authorities issued warnings to drivers to be cautious Friday morning.
Statewide, New Jersey State Police said they responded to more than 400 crashes and assisted more than 270 motorists by 3 p.m. because of the hazardous conditions on the state’s roads.
