Aberdeen Haunted House And COVID Mask-Decorating Contest

ABERDEEN, NJ — Think you have the spookiest house or mask in town? Now is the time to prove it with Aberdeen's ‘spooktacular’ Halloween decorating contests!

Aberdeen Township is inviting all residents to show off their Halloween spirit with its house and face mask decorating contests — the town is asking all kids under 14 to do their best at decorating a regular face mask they use for COVID protection. Enter now for a chance to win an Amazon or Target gift card. The deadline for both contests is Sunday, Oct. 25 at midnight.

Here are the rules:

Halloween House Decorating Contest

● Upload a photo of your Halloween-themed residence to Aberdeentownship@gmail.com by Sunday, Oct. 25, midnight. (Including people in photos is optional.)
● Include your name, address, cell number and email address.
● Your entry must be a residence in Aberdeen Township (Strathmore, Freneau, Oakshades,
Cliffwood and Cliffwood Beach).
● Beginning Monday, Oct. 26 at noon, your entry will be displayed on facebook.com/Aberdeentwp and will include your address (so your neighbors can admire your work), unless you request that your address not be included.
● Entries that feature political statements, offensive language, sexist imagery or anything else deemed objectionable by the contest administrators will be disqualified and not displayed.

Face Mask Decorating Contest
● KIDS ONLY! You must be 14 years or younger and an Aberdeen Township resident to enter.
● Upload a photo of your personally decorated face mask to aberdeentownship@gmail.com by Sunday, Oct. 25 at midnight. (This contest is intended for COVID-19 protection-style face masks, not Halloween masks.)
● Include your name, age, address, cell number and email address.

● Beginning Monday, Oct. 26 at noon, your entry will be displayed on facebook.com/Aberdeentwp and will include your first name and age, unless you request that information not be included.

● Entries that feature political statements, offensive language, sexist imagery or anything else deemed objectionable by the contest administrators will be disqualified and not displayed.

Beginning on Oct. 26 at noon, all Aberdeen residents are invited to go to facebook.com/Aberdeentwp, look at all the entries and vote for their favorite Decorated House and Face Mask by “liking” their favorite. Voting ends Oct. 31 at midnight.

The house entry that receives the most “likes” will be declared the winner. For the face masks, the six entries that receive the most “likes,” one in each of six age groups (0-2, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8, 9–11, 12–14), will be declared the winners.

Winners will be announced on Nov. 2.
