Aberdeen Hosts Alternative Easter Egg Hunt April 1
Aberdeen residents: If you want to participate in the alternative Easter egg hunt, register your household by next Friday, March 19.
ABERDEEN, NJ — As the coronavirus still doesn't quite seem to be going away, Aberdeen Twp. will again do it's "alternative Easter Egg Hunt" in 2021, for the second year in a row.
Aberdeen launched this idea in 2020, when the pandemic first started and lockdowns were in full effect: The new Easter Egg Hunt involves hiding the eggs on the front lawns of homes throughout town and then having children search their own yards.
This is to avoid a large gathering of hundreds of people, the way Aberdeen traditionally holds its town Easter egg hunt.

“Last year’s alternative Easter egg hunt proved to be a joyful and safe experience for children and parents alike,” said Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini. “We look forward to repeating its success this year, with the hope that we can return to our traditional communal hunt in 2022.”
On Thursday, April 1, Aberdeen Township officials and “Easter Bunnies” volunteers will be placing Easter eggs on the front lawns of houses with children up to eight years old. All eggs will be handled with gloves for the health and safety of all residents.

The “Easter Bunny” will be delivering the eggs that day between 1 and 5 p.m. Children are asked to wait until after 6 p.m. to search for their eggs, in order to give the Easter Bunny a chance to hide them.
Parents must register their household by Friday, March 19, by calling Patty Geyer at (732) 583-4200, ext. 129 or John Roman at 732-583-4200, ext. 130 Residents can also email events@aberdeennj.org
Participating families must provide their address and the number of children in their household, along with basic contact information in case the township has additional questions.
