Aberdeen/Keyport Bridge Re-Opens Tuesday, May 22
In tremendous news for area residents, the long-closed bridge will finally re-open at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The bridge has been entirely replaced.

KEYPORT, NJ — The Aberdeen/Keyport Bridge over Matawan Creek will finally re-open this Tuesday, May 22!
Bridge MA-14 spanning Matawan Creek on Amboy Avenue/West Front Street is one of the main thoroughfares between Aberdeen and Keyport, and its nearly two-year shutdown has impacted many in the area. The bridge replacement project began on March 14, 2016, and it has been closed to traffic ever since.
The Matawan Creek bridge was first built in 1916, and last renovated in 1981. The original bridge was completely replaced due to age and severe corrosion, and now features two wide sidewalks. It is also much taller to allow marine traffic to pass underneath.

Past Patch reporting on the Matawan Creek Bridge: Keyport-Aberdeen Amboy Street Bridge Reopening Delayed
The reopening of the bridge has been pushed back several times, due to weather-related- and funding delays. The County originally anticipated the bridge would be reopened to traffic by November 2017, but that was pushed back to this spring.
