Aberdeen-Matawan Summer Camp Guide 2021

ABERDEEN, NJ — After a year when too many traditions had to be canceled for coronavirus safety, Monmouth County summer camps are back on.

The state of New Jersey issued this updated guidance on how camps can safely operate this summer.

Here's a look at all the camps planned in and around Matawan/Aberdeen for summer 2021:

Aberdeen: Aberdeen Twp. has not released its summer camp guide yet. Stay tuned.

Matawan: Matawan borough offers a "Learning is Fun" summer series. It's not quite a camp, but instead a series of different fun-to-learn activities for kids offered in Terhune Park and Lake Lefferts Park. Sign up info coming soon. http://matawanborough.com/mata...

Summer Friends Day Camp Matawan: A private camp located on seven acres of property on Highway 34 in the Matawan/Old Bridge area. Camp is $315 per week, but they also have two-day and three-day options. Here is a typical day and campers are offered swim twice each day, for an instructional 45 minutes, and free swim period every afternoon for 45 minutes. YMCA Day camp in South Amboy: Camp SAY at the South Amboy YMCA. Open to grades K-8, Camp SAY has a full aquatics center, gymnasium, kitchen, outdoor fields, and multi-purpose rooms, allowing an energetic schedule throughout the facility and beyond! Activities include crafts, science, technology, math, movement arts and outdoor play. Weekly virtual experiences are included. Campers have the opportunity to swim with their group 3 days a week. Private swim lessons can be added at an additional cost. $280 a week if you are a member. YMCA Day Camp In Old Bridge: They have a summer day camp in Old Bridge, with Red Cross certified swim instructors and lifeguards. The Old Bridge camp is June 28 – August 20 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and it is five full days: $308, four full days (Mon-Thu only): $266. Highline Arena: Highline Arena offers Aberdeen Country Day Camp. Their state-of-the-art climate controlled facility consists of volleyball courts, multi-purpose gym type floor arena, outdoor sports (weather permitting) and multipurpose arts & crafts/media room. Throughout the day children will participate in a wide variety of sports & activities in these areas, including soccer, flag football, Nerf hockey, volleyball, kickball and basketball. They also have themed days: Mad Science, Lizard Guys, Carnival Day, Team Challenge Day, Movie Day. Monday through Friday 8:30 am t0 3:30 pm (After & Before Care Available) June 28 - Sept. 3; $53 per day and minimum five days ($265 per week). Head Over Heels Gymnastics, Dance and Cheer Center of Parlin: They offer a summer fun and fitness day program, running July 13 - Aug. 28. Geared towards children 5 and older, the camp offers "seven hours of jam packed excitement - gymnastics, crafts, field trips, in-house events, and special elective classes such as dance, cheer, and karate." Marlboro Country Day Camp: Take a short drive down Rt. 79 to Marlboro Montessori Academy will offer a summer day camp at their Morganville campus. Open to kids ages 2-8. "Put on some sunscreen and pack your sandals because we're going to the Kid's Discovery Zone. Our summer programs welcome both imaginative play and fundamental learning. Kids will enjoy playing with their peers while learning valuable lessons in water safety, creative drama and STEM. Camp Coconuts: Private company. They are located at 205 Harmony Road in Middletown and host their summer camps there, but also have a sister campus at the Hazlet Twp. Swim and Tennis Club.
